For my final project, I will be looking at as comedians can be agent for social change. I will be touching on comedians such as Ellen, Jon Oliver, Hasan Minhaj, Tiny Fey, and more. However, specifically I will be looking at Kevin Hart.

I chose to look into Kevin Hart because of his discipline and way of life. In 2020, Kevin Hart’s Production Studio, LOL! Studios, partnered up with Headspace. This is how I really got into enjoying Kevin Hart. I didn’t know he was such a huge advocate for meditation and mental health. On the headspace app he discusses topics such as showing up, creating morning routines, getting good at failure, and has guided cardio sessions. Personally, I love his cardio sessions. He combines mindfulness with comedy which motivates me.

“The goal was to find humor and put personality into a space where people have forgotten it can exist. Don’t hide stuff like feeling you need to go to the bathroom. Happens to me on every run. Instead you talk about it and you identify with it. It makes it all easier. You can find room and space to just enjoy and be OK in the moment. Working on yourself is a beautiful thing. Look at what your sweat can and should mean — it’s you working on you. Time, energy, and effort to work on you. Sweat equity.”

As I begun my research, I learned that he was also an advocate for the power of positivity. He has also come to peace with his height, which use to be an insecurity of his. He has conquered self doubt and has realized he is much more than his height. I think Hart is someone we need during this time, which is why I am interested in learning more about him.
